A summer-plumaged Black-necked Grebe was found off the west bank this morning, a beautiful bird of course. The last one at Ogston was a juvenile on 14 August 2011, the last summer adults in 2009. Of the seventeen previous records sixteen have been one day birds so see it today if you can. A second male Redstart for the week, this one on the west car park, was well received. A scarce bird here nowadays but a former breeder, 2013 yielded no records at all. Also 3 Shoveler, 13 Gadwall, single Goldeneye still, fly-through L.R.Plover, a Yellow Wagtail and a Redpoll.
