2 Mute Swans, 122 Canada & 45 Greylags in front of the hides but more in total, 13 Mandarins, 3 Teal, 4 Gadwall, 22 Tufteds, 5 Oystercatchers, 2 Ringed & 7 LRPlovers (inc. 2 chicks), a Green Sandpiper on the west bank was the first returning migrant wader, as is often the case. Much scarcer in recent years, old maxima include a best of nine in August 1969 & seven on 25 June 1988. Also 8 BHGulls, 19 LBBGulls & the 2CY GBBGull. No Common Terns were present – this afternoon at least, first absence for some while.
