A Twite at the south end of the west bank at midday (which was almost certainly heard yesterday) was a good find and was still present late afternoon associating with a small flock of Linnets & Goldfinches and showing well at times. Formerly described as a ‘scarce but regular autumn migrant and winter visitor’ here up to the end of the seventies this is only the twelfth record since 1979. Also a drake Goosander, 3 Goldeneye at least while the gull roost produced 3 Caspian (ad, 1st & 3rdW) and 2 Yellow-l-Gulls (ad & 1stW).
