A total of 98 species recorded in August, with the following notable sightings:
Arctic Tern (2 juveniles on 14th), Barn Owl (1 on 23rd), Black-necked Grebe (2 juveniles on 1st), Black-tailed Godwit (2 dates, with 6 on 18th), Caspian Gull (on 19 dates), Common Sandpiper (becoming less frequent but noted on 12 dates), Common Scoter (singles on 6th and 14th), Common Tern (on 5 dates), Cormorant (site record of 230 on 27th), Curlew (1 on 31st), Dunlin (1 on 25th), Egyptian Goose (2 on 7th), Goosander (1 on 4th), Great White Egret (2 dates with 3 on 29th), Greenshank (2 each on 14th and 31st), Green Sandpiper (singles on 6th and 17th), Hobby (up to 2 on 9 dates), Knot (18th-21st), Little Egret (up to 6 on 22 dates), Marsh Harrier (7th and 30th – 2 birds on 30th is site’s first multiple record), Osprey (on 12 dates and successive from 23rd with max of 3 birds), Peregrine (singles on 3 dates), Raven (up to 6 on 8 dates), Redshank (1 on 9th), Red Kite (on 4 dates), Ringed Plover (on 4 dates with 5 on 24th), Shoveler (on 19 dates), Snipe (on 7 dates), Spoonbill (long-staying bird from July, last seen on 15th August), Spotted Flycatcher (1 on both 30th and 31st), Tree Pipit (1 at Highoredish on 27th), Yellow-legged Gull (up to 2 on 24 dates), Yellow Wagtail (singles on 3 dates), Whimbrel (1 on 14th), Willow Tit (up to 2 on 7 dates).
