Another quiet day though the Water Rail showed well again from the hide. 3 Mute Swans,11 Gadwall, ad Yellow-l-Gull, 2 Ravens, single Skylark over, couple of Mipits & 20+ Linnets. The gull roost held plenty of birds but nothing unusual.

A quiet morning; 3 Mute Swans, drake Goosander, 2 Ravens, c30 Linnets plus usual ducks, raptors etc. at Brackenfield  Church 67 Redwings & 5 Mistle Thrushes.

A surprise this morning when five Waxwings flew low west calling at 0945, they’ve not been as frequent so far in this second winter period but were recorded earlier in the year when several birds lingered right into May feeding … Continue reading →

3 Mute Swans, a Pink-footed Goose with the Greylags, 11 Gadwall, 5 Tufteds, single Goldeneye, a Redshank, 13 Fieldfares, c140 Redwings, 6 Tree Sparrows & 3 Grey Wags.

3 Mute Swans, 82 Greylags, 11 Gadwall, 105 Teal, 3 Tufteds, a Goldeneye, 86 Coots, 5 Little Grebes, ad Yellow-l-Gull, c20 Siskins, c15 Linnets & a Redpoll.

Sixty Pinkfeet flew SE and a Water Rail was seen from the hides. In the gull roost 470 Herring, 244 GBB & 60 LBBGulls plus a Raven over.

3 Mute Swans, 11 Gadwall, fem Shoveler, 50 Redwings & 70 Chaffinches. Highlight was yet another Hawfinch, this one in trees at Teapot Farm in Brackenfield. An escaped Harris Hawk was in the area.

Two Black-t-Godwits in Chapel Bay were a surprise. Also 11 Gadwall & a fem Shoveler. In fields behind the west bank 70 Chaffinches, 2 Bramblings & 6 Yellowhammers.

A quiet day with 3 Mute Swans, Sparrowhawk, ad Yellow-l-Gull, Willow Tit.
