Two Red Kites were soaring east of the res @1120, the first this year. Also 4 Gadwall, 2 Mandarins, 2 Goldeneye, 6 G.C.Grebes, 2 Oystercatchers and the male Brambling on the hide feeders.

2 Gadwall, 3 Goldeneye, c160 Lapwings, 2 Oystercatchers, a Curlew, a Raven, 2 Dippers on the river, single Brambling & 4 Tree Sparrows. A small calidrid, probably a Dunlin, flew high south.

c20 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 33 Pochard, 20+ Tufteds, 2 Goldeneye, 5 Goosander, 2 Oystercatchers, 1 Raven & 24 Redwings.

4 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 22 Tufteds, 29 Pochard, 3 Goldeneye, 5 Little & 4 G.C.Grebes, 2 Peregrines, c150 Lapwings, 6 Oystercatchers and the first Curlew of the year.

4 Gadwall, 7 Shoveler, 1 Wigeon, 1 Goldeneye, 36 Tufted Ducks, 130 Lapwings & 2 Oystercatchers.

43 Canada & 30 Greylag Geese, 3 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 10+ Teal, 30 Pochard, 21 Tufteds, 1 Goldeneye, 2 Oystercatchers (presumably the return of the breeding pair) plus a Kingfisher & a male Brambling on the hide feeders.

4 Gadwall, 1 Goldeneye, 6 Common Snipe & 4 Brambling down the hide path as well as the usual male on the feeders.

82 Canada & 31 Greylag Geese, 5 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 21 Teal, 32 Tufteds & 22 Pochard, 1 Goldeneye, 6 Little & 2 G.C.Grebes, 7 Common Buzzards and on the feeders 2 Willow Tits and a male Brambling.

58 Canada & 31 Greylag Geese, 5 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 25 Tufted Ducks, 36 Pochard (the most all winter), 6 Little & 3 G.C.Grebes, 104 Lapwings. An adult Peregrine zapped a Coot on the west bank but was accidently flushed … Continue reading →
