The hides were much appreciated this morning in the heavy rain, good weather for ducks. 94 Teal, 10 Gadwall, 8 Wigeon, 3 f. Pochard, 1 Goldeneye, 1 f. Mandarin and 5 Shelduck with 5 Snipe and a Grey Wagtail.

Vis-mig at Highoredish was fairly quiet early morning with c20 Chaffinches, c50 Redwings, c250 Starlings, 6 M.Pipits, 9 Goldfinches, 5 Bramblings & c20 Skylarks. At the res. the Red-breasted Goose still present with a site record count of 116 Greylags. … Continue reading →

An ad Red-breasted Goose with 68 Greylags was an  undoubted  escape but beautiful none the less. Also ad Yellow-l-Gull, c20 Skylarks south and a Redpoll.

5 Pochard, 3 Wigeon, 9 Gadwall, 73 Teal & 4 Little Grebes. Also ad Yellow-l-Gull and a lingering Chiffchaff.

Ad Yellow-l-Gull, 74 Teal, 3 Wigeon, 10 Gadwall, female Mandarin, 5 Little Grebes with 92 Canada Geese, 60 Greylags and three not exactly cute Greylag/Canada Goose hybrids. A possible ‘heinei’ or Russian Common Gull was present around midday with the ad. Yellow-l-Gull, 11 Gadwall, 90 Teal, 4 Mandarins(one drake), a Goldeneye and a Rock/Water Pipit heard in the vicinity of the north car park.

On a quiet day the adult Yellow-legged Gull was the only record of note.
