This page aims to provide a daily update on bird sightings for Ogston Reservoir.
It typically provides details of some of the more notable sightings, however sightings for all species are very important to us so please submit these to the Recording Secretary (see details below).
Please note that records of certain sensitive species may not be published here (for the club’s ‘Sensitive species’ list please refer to the ‘Policies and Procedures’ section of the website).
However ALL records received are entered into the Ogston Bird Club database and subsequently submitted to the Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (DWT).

29 Greylag Geese, 4 Goldeneyes, 1 ad male Peregrine killed a Moorhen, 1 adult Yellow-legged Gull.

Monday 8th December 2014

1 Wigeon, 1 Pochard, 1 Goldeneye, 252 Lapwings, and the escaped Yellow-billed Teal still present. Later 2 Yellow-legged Gulls on the roost.

34 Greylag Geese, 5 Wigeon, 112 Teal, 10 Tufted Ducks, 1 fem/imm Goldeneye, 1 drake Goosander, c250 Lapwings, 1 1stW Yellow-legged Gull.

Saturday 6th December 2014

36 Greylag Geese, 1 Wigeon, 94 Teal, 10 Tufted Ducks, 1 Goosander, 194 Lapwing and the escaped Yellow-billed Teal present again. Later a 2ndW Caspian Gull and an adult Yellow-legged Gull in the roost.
