A very windy day with showers. Nevertheless Paul Beard picked a sunny spell and recorded the butterflies for week 18 of the transect season (only another 8 weeks left): Comma (2), Gatekeeper (6), Green-veined White (22), Large Skipper (2), Large White, Meadow Brown (3), Peacock, Red Admiral (7), Ringlet, Small White, and Speckled Wood (2).
On the Adult Dragonfly survey the Bottom Pond had single Brown Hawker, Common Darter and Southern Hawker. The wind was estimated at Beaufort 5 or 6, so lucky there was anything at all trying to fly!
