Recorder’s report – July 2024

A total of 97 species were recorded in July with the following notable sightings:

Black-tailed Godwit (reported on 5 dates, with 22 birds on 16th), Black Tern (1 on 13th an 14th), Bullfinch (4 dates, with young noted on 12th), Caspian Gull (1 on 19th and 28th), Cattle Egret (juvenile present on 22nd-23rd and 25th-26th), Common Sandpiper (almost daily, with 6 on 9th), Common Scoter (3 dates with max of 3 on 11th), Common Tern (17 dates, max of 6 on 8th), Cormorant (max of 66 on 31st), Curlew (max of 3 on 4 dates), Dunlin (3 on 11th), Goldeneye (1 on 4th), Goosander (1 on 3 dates), Great White Egret (max of 2 on 8 dates), Greenshank (2 on 9th), Greylag Goose (max of 186 on 7th), Hobby (1 on 2 dates), Kingfisher (reported on 13 dates), Lapwing (max of 53 on 25 dates), Lesser Whitethroat (1 on 2 dates), Little Egret (max of 10, almost daily), Little Owl (1 on 11 dates), Mediterranean Gull (1 on 2 dates), Peregrine Falcon (1 on 3 dates), Raven (1 on 8th), Redshank (max of 5 on 4 dates), Red Kite (max of 2 on 4 dates), Sandwich Tern (1 on 27th), Shelduck (3 juveniles on 2 dates), Shoveler (max of 6 on 10 dates), Snipe (1 on 3rd), Spoonbill (1 from 21st onwards), Teal (max of 14 on 23 dates), Whinchat (1 on 17th), Wood Sandpiper (1 on 21st), Yellow-legged Gull (max of 2 on 11 dates), Yellow Wagtail (1 on 23rd)
