Recorder’s report – March 2025

A total of 101 species were reported during March, from a total of 1518 sightings.

The total for the year to date is now 113 species, from 3195 sightings.

Notable March sightings as follows:

Black-necked Grebe (1 for around a week from 10th of the month), Black-tailed Godwit (2 on 18th), Chiffchaff (almost daily from 5th, max count of 21), Common Gull (on several dates; max of 611 on 17th), Curlew (almost daily, max of 69 on 15th), Dunlin (1 on 23rd), Egyptian Goose  (1 on 16th), Goldeneye (almost daily, max count of 10), Goosander (almost daily, max count of 13), Green Woodpecker (1 on 21st), Kittiwake (1 adult on 28th), Little Egret (2 on 29th), Little Ringed Plover (on 4 dates), Mediterranean Gull (1 on 3 dates), Oystercatcher (daily, max of 6 birds), Peregrine Falcon (1 on 16th), Red Kite (1 on 5 dates), Red-legged Partridge (1 on 9th), Redshank (on 4 dates, max of 3 birds), Rock Pipit (1 on 2 dates), Sandwich Tern (4 on 23rd), Sand Martin (almost daily from 19th, with a max of 8), Snipe (almost daily, max of 63), Swallow (1st reported on 22nd), Tawny Owl (on 4 dates), Tree Sparrow (1 on 21st), Water Rail (1 on 2 dates), Whooper Swan (on 5 dates, max of 31), Willow Warbler (from 27th).
