A total of 103 species were reported in May, from a total of 1654 sightings.
The current total for the year stands at 142 species from a total of 6491 sightings.
Monthly highlights include:
Avocet (2 on 13th), Common Gull (single birds on 3 dates), Common Sandpiper (max of 8, almost daily sightings), Common Tern (on 16 dates, with a max of 12 on 29th), Crossbill (1 at Highoredish on 31st), Cuckoo (on 2 dates), Curlew (max of 4 on 9 dates), Dunlin (max of 3 on 8 dates), Egyptian Goose (1 on 16th), Great White Egret (1 on 2 dates), Hobby (single birds on 2 dates), Lesser Whitethroat (on 2 dates), Little Egret (max of 4 on 6 dates), Little Owl (on 3 dates), Little Tern (2 on 18th), Osprey (single birds on 7 dates), Peregrine (1 on 13th), Raven (max of 5, reported on 5 dates), Red Kite (single birds on 5 dates), Redshank (max of 2 on 2 dates), Redstart (single birds on 2 dates), Ringed Plover (max of 2 on 7 dates), Ruff (single birds on 2 dates), Sanderling (2 on 3rd), Shelduck (2 on 8th and 9th), Snipe (1 on 6th), Swift (max of 120, reported almost daily), Tree Pipit (singles on 10th at Highoredish and on 17th), Whimbrel (max of 5 on 8 dates), Wood Sandpiper (2 on 8th), Yellow-legged Gull (1 on 11th), Yellow Wagtail (1 on 21st), Yellowhammer (singles reported on 3 dates).
