7 Gadwall, 2 Pochard, 5 Goldeneye, 3 Goosander. The bright & breezy conditions in the morning looked good for raptors and so it proved with 6 Common Buzzards up, at least 4 Sparrowhawks, an ad Peregrine and best of all a Merlin that flew east behind the north bank.Also 4 Oystercatchers, the year’s first Curlew, 2 Skylarks over and a single flock of c 300 Starlings flew east.
