A change in the weather increased the concentration levels but typically the highlight came not in the hoped for form of a wader, tern or (fingers crossed) fly-through skua – a Woodlark fluttered NE then E over the dam wall at 1120, only Ogston’s second record after one flying west on 8 Oct 1971. A Ringed Plover, scarce so far this spring, went through calling at 0950 but otherwise pretty much same old same old.
