Today’s highlight was a Black Redstart found early afternoon in the Brackenfield Church/Butterfield Farm area, only the fifth site record and the first since 2003. Also today a good count of 14 Gadwall, 10 Wigeon, 6 Tufteds & 2 Goldeneye.

c130 Canada & 56 Greylag Geese, 6 Gadwall, 2 Goldeneye, 2 drake Goosander, 5 Little Grebes, 3 Snipe, a Raven and c10 Linnets.

10 Wigeon, Yellow-billed Teal, drake Mandarin & 2 Goldeneye with c60 Fieldfares >SW and a Brambling. There was an obvious southerly movement of big gulls, mostly Herring with a few Lessers and three Greater black-backs.

83 Pink-footed Geese flew east, 5 Wigeon, 2 Mute Swans, 5 Little Grebes, Yellow-billed Teal and a Willow Tit.

13 Wigeon, 5 Gadwall, Yellow-billed Teal, 2Goldeneye, c70 Lapwings a Stonechat and a Kingfisher. A Mealy (Common) Redpoll fed on Willow-herb with a small group of eight Lesser Redpolls.

4 ad Whooper Swans flew NW at 1015, the first ones this period. 4 Common Snipe also flew through W, c180 Fieldfares flew south before the rain came in,2 Goldeneye, Yellow-billed Teal, 2 Ravens and a Skylark over
