This page aims to provide a daily update on bird sightings for Ogston Reservoir.
It typically provides details of some of the more notable sightings, however sightings for all species are very important to us so please submit these to the Recording Secretary (see details below).
Please note that records of certain sensitive species may not be published here (for the club’s ‘Sensitive species’ list please refer to the ‘Policies and Procedures’ section of the website).
However ALL records received are entered into the Ogston Bird Club database and subsequently submitted to the Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (DWT).

23 Greylag Geese, 1 Wigeon, 2 Pochards.

1 Wigeon, 1 fem/imm Pintail, 1 fem/imm Goldeneye, 1 Raven, the escaped Yellow-billed Teal still present.

20 Greylag Geese, 2 Wigeon, 1 Pochard, 6 Lesser Redpolls.

Monday 17th November 2014

18 Pink-footed Geese flew SE, 1 Wigeon, 44 Teal, c20 Tufted Ducks, c120 Lapwings.

Friday 14th November 2014

1 Wigeon, 58 Teal, 1 Pochard, 1 escaped Yellow-billed Teal.

Tuesday 11th November 2014

A winter plumaged Knot on the West Bank, 1 Wigeon, 1 Goldeneye, 1 Kingfisher.

Monday 10th November 2014

2 Wigeon, 1 Pochard, 1 Goldeneye, 1 Golden Plover over. The escaped Yellow-billed Teal still present.

Sunday 9th November 2014

At Highoredish 275 Redwings and 268 Fieldfares flew over also 1 juv male Goshawk there. At the reservoir was 1 Mandarin, 1 Goldeneye, 1 Kingfisher and 1 ad Caspian Gull in the roost.

Saturday 8th November 2014

1 Wigeon, 7 Goosanders present briefly early morning, 1 Kingfisher. Migrants passing over Highoredish included 392 Fieldfares, 216 Redwings and 19 Skylarks.
