“The site was nicely flattened by the snow which had completely thawed. The melt water had swollen the ponds and the brook to very high levels. I noticed that the ground was peppered by small holes, many sporting a good crop of droppings.
“In addition to my log book entries of 1 Robin and 1 Wren, I saw a couple of Bullfinches up by the gate on returning to the car.”
