JMNR 6th April 2015

14:30 Sunny and warm. About six sightings of Peacock and four Small Tortoiseshell, though some of these might be duplicates as they were very active.
Blackbird, Blue Tit, Chiffchaff, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Mallard, Pheasant. The female Mallard was on its nest, which has eggs, in the Hide Pond. However, in the nearby grass there was a single duck egg that had been opened, presumably predated.
The Middle Pond was alive with croaking frogs (c30) and the bottom pond also has frogs in it.
In flower: Lesser Celandine (C4c, C6a), Hairy Bittercress (C3a, C6a), Opposite-leaved Golden Saxifrage (C6a), Dog’s Mercury (C5b), Cowslip (C5a), Dandelion (C3a)
