JMNR Sightings 27th May 2015

Early afternoon 17°C

10 Long-tailed tits, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker (a lot of calling from the wooded area across the brook), Blue tits (feeding in box 8), Blackbird, Chiffchaff, Chaffinch, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, Robin, Whitethroat, Moorhen.

Adela reaumurella, Nettle Tap, Common Carpet, Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnet moth caterpillar, Epiblema sp.

Newly emerge Broad-bodied Chaser, Red-headed Cardinal Beetle, 30+ Large Red Damselflies, Woundwort Shieldbugs, 2 Golden-bloomed Grey Longhorn Beetle, Soldier Beetle (Cantharis sp.). Tadpoles Bottom Pond, Common frog.

Butterflies seen on transect walk: Small Tortoiseshell, Orange Tip, Brimstone, Speckled Wood, Peacock, Green-veined White. Many caterpillars on Nettles (Small Tortoiseshell or Peacock?)
