Moth Trapping JMNR 6th September

The moth trap was set up at the end of the butterfly transect section 3 adjacent to the Garden Hedge on the evening of 6th September. It was emptied the following morning. Recorder N Mahadevan. There were 12 species of moth including a Heath Rustic and a Garden Carpet which are first records for the site.

3 Canary-shouldered Thorn, 2 Common Marbled Carpet, 1 Dark/Common Marbled Carpet, 9 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Dark Arches, 2 Acleris comariana/laterana, 2 Green Carpet, 1 Flame Carpet, 1 Silver-y, 1 Garden Carpet, 1 Heath Rustic, 1 Mother of Pearl, 1 Small Phoenix.

Also in the trap were a Sexton Beetle Nicrophorus investigator  and a caddisfly Limnephilus lunatus.
