Recorder’s report: June 2025

JUNE 2025 report

A total of 99 species were reported (compared with 89 in the same period last year).  The species were reported from a total of 1676 sightings.

For the year to date, a total of 144 species have been reported from 8167 sightings.

Most notable sightings as follows:

Barnacle Goose  (2 on 4th), Black-tailed Godwit (single birds on 2 dates), Common Sandpiper (up to 4 noted almost daily), Common Tern (up to 4 noted almost daily), 
Crossbill (max of 10 noted, reported on 4 dates),  Cuckoo (single birds on 2 dates), Curlew (max of 4 noted, reported on 4 dates), Goldeneye (single bird reported most days from 12th to 25th), Hobby (single birds on 6 dates), Kingfisher (max of 3 noted, reported on 16 dates), Lesser Whitethroat (single bird on 25th), Little Egret (max of 6 noted, reported on 13 dates), Little Owl (reported on 6 dates), Oystercatcher (daily reports), Peregrine (max of 2 noted, reported on 4 dates), Pochard (max of 2 noted, reported on 2 dates), Raven (max of 12 noted, reported on 16 dates), Redshank (single birds on 3 dates), Redstart (1 on 17th), Red Kite (max of 2 birds, reported on 6 dates), Ringed Plover (1 on 3rd), Shoveler (max of 8 noted, reported on 5 dates), Siskin (max of 29 noted, reported on 6 dates), Stonechat (single birds on 2 dates), Tawny Owl (1 on 23rd), Teal (max of 4 noted, reported on 5 dates), Tree Sparrow (1 on 26th), Willow Tit (max of 3 birds, reported on 9 dates), Yellow Wagtail (1 on 29th), Yellow-legged Gull (1 on 22nd).
