Recorder’s report: November 2025

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this month’s report by writing in the hide diary, contacting me directly or by posting on the Club’s Whatsapp Sightings group.  As always, very much appreciated – please remember that all sightings are important to us, not just the “most notable” species.

In November, a total of 84 species were reported from a total of 1153 sightings.

The yearly total to date stands at 158 species from a total of 16329 sightings.

Monthly highlights include:

Brambling (1 on 30th), Chiffchaff (8 reports up to 28th), Common Gull (max count of 3 on 6 dates), Egyptian Goose (2 on 22nd), Fieldfare (max count of 60 on 6 dates), Goldeneye (max count of 6, reported almost daily), Goosander (max count of 14 on 16 dates), Goshawk (on 4 dates), Great Black-backed Gull (single bird on 8 dates), Great White Egret (3 on 7th), Kingfisher (on 12 dates), Little Egret (max count of 2 on 13 dates), Little Owl (on 6 dates), Mute Swan (1 on 20th), Peregrine Falcon (max count of 2 on 3 dates), Pochard (max count of 8 on 5 dates), Red Kite (1 on 13th), Redpoll (on 7 dates), Redwing (max count of 110, reported almost daily), Siskin (max count of 15 on 17 dates), Snipe (max count of 20 on 11 dates), Starling (max count of 300 on 17 dates), Tawny Owl (on 6 dates), Teal (max count of 135, reported daily), Treecreeper (single birds on 4 dates), Water Rail (single bird, reported daily since 18th), Whooper Swan (5 on 1st), Wigeon (max count of 8 on 20 dates), Willow Tit (on 3 dates), Yellow-legged Gull (single birds on 2 dates).
