A Manx Shearwater was found mid-morning by Steve Mann and was present throughout the day, desperately avoiding the attentions of various large gulls. This potentially becomes Ogston’s 250th bird species subject to acceptance of this and May’s White Stork. The Manxie adds to Ogston’s fairly impressive total of seabirds with 7 Fulmars, Storm Petrel, 3 Leach’s Petrels, 2 Gannets, 27 Shags (from twelve records), 16 Arctic, 3 Great and single Pomarine & Long-tailed Skuas along with 3 unidentified Skuas.
