Late news of an Arctic Tern on Monday evening (1st) and 2 Whimbrel last night (2nd). Highlight today was a summer plumaged Slavonian Grebe off the car park and present all day. Only the seventh record here (compared with nineteen of Black-necked and six of Red-necked Grebe) the last being 18-20 Oct 2005. Also 2 Mandarins, 7 Gadwall, an Osprey that caught a fish @1045, ad Peregrine, 3+ Oystercatchers, 2 Redshank, 1 Greenshank still, a fly-through Whimbrel at 0840, single GBB & Yellow-legged Gulls, 7 BHGulls, 2 Swifts and a White Wagtail. Garden Warblers are well & truly ‘in’ now but it was a nice surprise to see three together in a small rose bush by the oak tree.
