5 December 2018

Couple of highlights today with two adult Bewick’s Swans found mid-morning in Chapel Bay and still present at dusk and a Grey Plover sleeping on the west bank at 1120 which soon took flight and was lost in the murk but was heard calling again about 20 minutes later. To put in context the Bewick’s were the first since three on 18 Feb 2013 and only the eighth this century and the last Grey Plover was even further back; a fly-through on 14 Dec 2012.

In the roost the 2ndW Glaucous Gull and a 2ndW Caspian Gull with this morning the usual ad Yellow-l-Gull along with 4 Pochard, 2 Goldeneye and a Chiffchaff.
