Moth Trapping JMNR 30th June, 2015

The trap was set up at the start of section 3 of the butterfly transect route on the evening of 30th June. It was a very warm night and the temperature was 16ºC @  5:45 when the trap was emptied. Recorder N Mahadevan.

A much more respectable catch than of late with more than 30 moth species recorded. Five moths, shown in bold, were recorded on the site for the first time.

6 Silver-ground Carpet, 2 Riband Wave, 20 Middle-barred Minor,  1 Gold Spot, 2 Agapeta Hamana,  7 White Ermine, 1 Common Marble, 4 Green Carpet, 1 Snout, 3 Flame Shoulder, 1 Common Carpet, 1 Brown China-mark, 3 Large Yellow Underwing, 1 Shaded Broad-bar, 1 Common Swift, 2 Mottled Beauty, 1 Buff Ermine, 1 Flame, 1 Straw Dot, 1 Marbled Minor agg., 1 Beautiful Golden Y, 1 Spectacle, 1 Double Square-spot, 2 Ingrailed Clay, 2 Bee Moth, 1 Smoky Wainscot, 1 Pinion-streaked Snout, 1 Small Angle Shades, 1 Hawthorn Cosmet, 1 Marbled Bell, 1 Meadow Grey (Scoparia pyralella).
