This page aims to provide a daily update on bird sightings for Ogston Reservoir.
It typically provides details of some of the more notable sightings, however sightings for all species are very important to us so please submit these to the Recording Secretary (see details below).
Please note that records of certain sensitive species may not be published here (for the club’s ‘Sensitive species’ list please refer to the ‘Policies and Procedures’ section of the website).
However ALL records received are entered into the Ogston Bird Club database and subsequently submitted to the Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (DWT).

A possible ‘heinei’ or Russian Common Gull was present around midday with the ad. Yellow-l-Gull, 11 Gadwall, 90 Teal, 4 Mandarins(one drake), a Goldeneye and a Rock/Water Pipit heard in the vicinity of the north car park.

Vis-mig at Highoredish was slow though 230 Redwings moved through in 90 minutes with 64 Fieldfares, 8 Skylarks, 14 Chaffinches & 1 Brambling. At the res. 8 Gadwall still present and 2 Ravens seen.
