This page aims to provide a daily update on bird sightings for Ogston Reservoir.
It typically provides details of some of the more notable sightings, however sightings for all species are very important to us so please submit these to the Recording Secretary (see details below).
Please note that records of certain sensitive species may not be published here (for the club’s ‘Sensitive species’ list please refer to the ‘Policies and Procedures’ section of the website).
However ALL records received are entered into the Ogston Bird Club database and subsequently submitted to the Derbyshire Ornithological Society (DOS) and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust (DWT).

Still two juvenile Ospreys this morning with 14 C.Buzzards, 2 Sparrowhawks, 5 Ravens, ad Yellow-l-Gull, juv Ringed Plover, Yellow Wagtail and 48 Mandarins. A trickle of visible migration in less than perfect conditions, mainly Swallows, Meadow Pipits, Linnets and Siskins.

2 Ospreys and a juv Ringed Plover today.

An adult Osprey caught a fish at 0930 before heading off east, three birds were reported from earlier in the day. Also today a juv Ringed Plover, ad Yellow-l-Gull, 28 Teal, 8 Mandarins and a single Redpoll.

All three Ospreys hanging on for another day and all seen in the air together at 1030. Also 4 Common Terns thru’ (3+1), Whinchat, ad Yellow-l-Gull, 7 Grey and 3 Yellow Wagtails.

Three Ospreys present throughout but little else of note really. Occasional visits by Hobbys and Peregrines, Whinchat and a couple of Yellow Wags in the west bank Mayweed.
